President Trump backed a sweeping plan Wednesday to halve legal immigration to the United States, flanked by the two Republican senators who crafted the bill. The RAISE ACT “As a candidate I campaigned on creating a merit-based immigration system,” Trump said. He added that the legislation, would be the “most significant reform to our immigration system in half a century.”The president said that the bill shows “compassion” to struggling American families and that it would “give American workers a pay raise by reducing unskilled immigration.”
According to a document obtained by the Times, the civil rights division is seeking current lawyers interested in working on “investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.”
