Ashley Perkins, MSW, Community Activist, Insurance Agent

Ashley Perkins, MSW was recently honored as a Biddy Mason shero for her work within the community. Ashley is a social worker in the mental health field helping people to adjust and express in order to live their most meaningful lives. She holds community events, helps families become insured and begin investing.  Ashley Perkins, AKA "Perky", works to serve her people both in and out of her profession. Perky primarily serves marginalized Black populations including incarcerated individuals and their families, youth in the foster care system, the Black LQBT+ community, as well as doing freelance work in radio through the Perky Perspectives radio show. Perky also is a licensed insurance agent and is studying to gain investment licenses in order to help families create a stronger financial foundation.

Perky is the creator/ lead content producer for the Perky Perspectives Radio/podcast which includes the Love Period and For Us series. The Love Period LLC was created to help women have a platform to speak about their periods and feminine hygiene without judgment and ensure these products are available in different areas. Love Period LLC has relocated to Los Angeles, CA. Upon relocating Perky decided to create For Us, a membership created to identify safe places For Us to express our talents, businesses, and culture with our people. For Us holds monthly meetups, workshops, events, and business development consultations. Perky promotes connectivity of melanated people across the globe and thrives to connect through our successes and history.
