I think it’s vital to bring attention and awareness to the existence and prevalence of mental and emotional health under the umbrella of domestic abuse and violence, both during the relationship and post separation.
As it’s always important to note, all abuse, no matter what form, is based upon power, control, dominance, and breaking down boundaries. I also always like to bring attention to the different types of abuse – physical, sexual (both can be violent or non-violent), verbal, emotional, mental, financial, spiritual, and legal. And once you leave an abuser, post separation abuse, which is a continuance of power and control, along with gaining revenge.
Tonight's Guest Is Hope,
Hope is obviously not my real name but it is what I am today. Today I carry the message of hope to anyone who is suffering from mental health problems and who is in the Florida family court system. I promise you that if I am here today as an advocate for a nonprofit, a sober mother, a present mother, a full time employee that is a full time student a University getting my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Victim advocacy, a sober active member of a 12 step fellowship yet still dealing with a narcissist coparent, you too will get to the other side. Yes, I suffer from mental health issues. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety since I was 16 years old. But I also suffer from the disease of addiction which I would not wish on my worst enemy, this disease is a cunning, powerful and baffling one that ultimately wants you dead.
