This week, Burke talks with award-winning author Noemi Figueroa Soulet about The Borinqueneers, the only Hispanic segregated regiment in the history of the US military. She became interested in the 65th Infantry Regiment in 1999 and has since produced a documentary of the same name and written a book about it.

She goes in-depth on the regiment, discussing most Puerto Rican officers and soldiers and the legacy of the men who served in most of the World Wars, fighting in World War I but primarily in the Korean War.

Noemi also discusses how she met some retired veterans from the Korean War, World War II, and even World War I, discussing some men and their stories who served their country. Noemi's passion for The Borinqueneers and their service to their homelands in South and Central America and the United States shows throughout their discussion.
