With unemployment still high, and small business owners looking for opportunities to expand their business or even buying a job, social media is not used as effectively as it can be. On LinkedIn there are several groupsFor people who are looking for a job or a career. When I am on these sites, I don't see as many postings of job openings within companies as there should be. I also don't see as many articles posted or discussions posted about how to think outside the box when looking for gainful employment. Technology influences the job market and unless you're in the millennial generation who grew up with access to computers and multimedia, there are classes of available through technical schools, and organizations that provide training on computers, software, and the Internet to help in individual who is unfamiliar or even finds it difficult to incorporate using computers to build contacts for themselves. I was a member of Ryze, a social media group on the Internet. I had joined a group of coaching, and while a member of this group, was fortunate enough to find a company who was starting a business offering webinars on the Internet, to teach entrepreneurs how to start a business. They were going to offer nonprofit organizations the opportunity to sell tickets to these webinars as a fund raiser for their organization, but unfortunately this was just at the beginning of the downturn of the economy when they had to put the program on hold. People who should listen to the show are coaches, entrepreneurs, home based business owners, etc.
