The Leadership Journey from Emotional Expression to Emotional Wisdom | Part 2
in Entrepreneur
Part 2 - Uniting Heart and Mind: The Leadership Journey from Emotional Expression to Emotional Wisdom
Redefining Strength: Why Embracing Emotions in Leadership Signals Power, Not Weakness
The perception of being emotional as a sign of weakness is a common misconception, particularly in the context of leadership. Emotions themselves are neither a sign of weakness nor strength; they are a fundamental aspect of the human experience. The key distinction lies in how emotions are managed and expressed, rather than the mere fact of experiencing them.
Being emotional is not inherently a sign of weakness in leadership. Rather, the ability to manage and leverage emotions constructively is a sign of emotional intelligence, which is a strength. Emotional intelligence enables leaders to connect with others, inspire and motivate teams, and navigate the complexities of human dynamics effectively. The challenge and skill lie in managing emotions in a way that is appropriate to the context and conducive to achieving personal and organizational goals.

Everyone has a business, a work of art, a book or a successful career inside of them, you just have to draw it out! Close Up Radio Spotlights Kathy Taylor Saulsberry of TaylorMade Consultants
in Entrepreneur
Phoenix, AZ – According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as reported by Fundera, approximately 20% of small businesses fail within the first year. By the end of the second year, 30% of businesses will have failed. For too many of us, success can be elusive. According to Kathy Taylor Salsbury of TaylorMade Consultants, that's because we all define success differently. "We all have different meters for success," explains Kathy.
"For example, one person can feel successful after 30 years on the job, while another will find that lifestyle stifling," Kathy elaborates. Entrepreneurs first need to think about how they define success.
"I created TaylorMade Consultants to eliminate these roadblocks to success," Kathy shares. "I'm also thrilled to be creating a legacy for my family with this family-run business."
Kathy and her daughter, Jazzmine Jacks, also offer personal styling services. "We've had clients who just didn't know what to wear to a meeting, so we go shopping for them, help with makeup, and work on presentation skills." TaylorMade doesn't stop there—personal style and branding is also offered for social media and websites.
TaylorMade also offers financing support, collaborating with lenders which work with challenging credit.
TaylorMade Consultants offers free 15-minute consultations. As Kathy explains, "I am in this for the joy of seeing people succeed. Taylormade's goal is to improve the percentage of failed businesses statistic in the best way that we can."

What Is Toledo Outlet
in Entrepreneur
A glimmer of hope Growing up in a poverty-stricken and crime-ridden neighborhood of Toledo Ohio during the late 90s was an immense challenge that plagued the lives of many. Gangs and drugs were rampant and opportunities were limited, leaving little room for growth and development. "I have lost tons of family members and friends due to the crime and violence in our community and over half of them being the youth." Bennie Johnson III said. However, the arrival of technology in the early 2000s brought a glimmer of hope for some, including two neighbors Markeith Johnson (CEO) and Bennie Johnson III (CTO), who seized the opportunity as a means of escape. Despite advancements in technology, violence and poverty continued to stricken the city, leaving local businesses with inadequate resources to initiate any real change. "There are tons of local businesses that wants to help fight against this youth crime in Toledo, Ohio but there is no outlet." Markeith Johnson said. Despite these obstacles, after two long decades, Toledo Outlet was created as a collective effort to provide a much-needed outlet for the community to thrive.
