ACCUMULATION AND AWARENESS

As complex as the world around seems on a given day the workings of the human mind are all that plus.  We carry with us unfathomable consciousness. It is capacity we barely comprehend yet we conduct our affairs with the sense we are moving forward.  We move forward not recklessly but with a sense of security based on what we trust.  For some it is mathematics and science. For others it is profiting and for too many it is survival.  The rules change when we pursue clean water, food and a safe place to sleep.  They change for those living in conditions that do not sustain life and they change for those of us living in safety, secure in our safety who must teach our children to ignore the child living over a grate on a sidewalk, maybe intoxicated to overcome the demons, maybe conscious and aware of the constant threat.  To be successful, do I have a conscience that influences my life or do I pretend they are not my problem?  Yes life is a struggle. Yes we have science telling us how to reduce poverty and suffering if only we have the courage to use it.  There are cracks forming in our armour.  The struggle for individual rights, a sense of equality is getting louder, just as education is reaching more people every day. How a person survives overnight is less important than their survival. Knowing this makes well informed people more isolated. The marketplace, the agora wants what it wants; resolution of an illwill thought of the moment. This is no different that it has been.  Our progress has always been in the hands of the few. Creators of beauty have always been mocked, unless they had the power to influence the narrative.  Why politics? Because it is power. Power to use to impose will.  Except for academics and freemasons, such uncomfortable questions are not asked in genteel company. What is it we are actually tolerating?
