The Craft has an provenance that extends beyond the life of man,, a series of expressions about values that are believed to improve. Since we can't improve the mathematics of life as it effects us, we wander into our collective unconsciousness where we find conflicts that have no apparent substance but faint meaning. We are generally inclined to think negativity is problematic so we set out in our own feeble way to implant notions to help us override reality.  Soldiers returning from the battlefield medicated themselves with whatever mind altering substance would take them temporarily away from the misery of experience. Although we are able to study masonry, I think we can admit there is tremendous benefit derived from discussing. Modern life gives us tools thought magical only decades ago. We are pressed to adjust at a faster rate than the accelerated flow of invention.  Sixty six years. From the time of sustained flight to landing on the moon- sixty six years. Many of us have or will live longer than that.  Imagine what another sixty six will bring.  Our performance with masonry can be noteworthy, whether or not we slip ignominiously into history or not, it is in this moment,  that we exist. The goal before us is unfairly not being tangibly defined. Do ten pushups. Walk 10,000 steps. None of that. Instead we are unwrapped to discover our inclination to hold back, to think less of our ability than our potential.  Is it good fortune that masonry sends us out into the world, not to dominant or conquer, but to understand? The plague of an intelligent mind, to know what he doesn't know (Dunning-Kruger effect). Not only are we setting off to understand, but to realize there is a "higher' level of perception, deeper satisfaction, beauty where others ignore. With the accelerated access to information, paralysis is not unlikely, even restorative nostalgia, if we remain static, we can achieve greatness again.
