Community with Marie Lazzara

On this show, Marie interviews people from the business and nonprofit sectors who work together to make their villages and towns better communities.

This week, Marie and a guest co-host will welcome representatives from The Peace Corner Youth Center in Chicago. The center’s mission is to serve youth from Chicago’s Austin neighborhood by offering a safe place that is an alternative to drugs and gangs. The center’s services include tutoring, athletics and academic enrichment.

Being Labor Day weekend, many will enjoy leisure activities. The Muscular Dystrophy Association also uses this time to make people aware of its fight against muscular diseases through its yearly telethon. We are pleased to welcome Sarah Coleman, Executive Director of MDA Chicago to join us.  Sarah will talk about MDA’s efforts as well as promoting “MDA Show of Strength Telethon” which will air at 8 p.m. Sunday, Septembert 1 on WLS-Channel 7 in the Chicagoland area.
