Tonight's SPECIAL GUEST is Karen Mills ~~ Born in Malaysia to unknown parents, Karen was adopted by a single mother at 2 months old. Her new relatives abused her physically and emotionally for 11 years. Karen was only 6 when she realized she was disposable, leaving her with a legacy of insecurities which she's fought very hard to overcome as an adult. As she grew, Ms Mills forced herself to face her many fears, succeeding in accomplishing the near impossible and winning many academic awards, professional promotions and financial success. All alone in the world Karen eventually become a type ‘A’ person with a heart on the outside. Inside, her soul was dying a slow death .. but she was too busy to notice. It was only in January 2011, when Karen stumbled upon the “Survivor to Thriver” manual from The Morris Center’s ASCA program (www.ASCAsupport.org), that the light bulb went off, and in May 2011, Ms Mills started a support group in Santa Clarita, CA. for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse based on the ASCA program (www.ASCAsantaclarita.org).
