Tonight's special guest is Dr Jaime Romo from San Diego is a NAASCA family member (see also SCAN Episodes #082 & #489) who'll be joining us to discuss Male and Trauma Recovery. Jaime is a member of Males for Trauma Recovery (M4TR), a working group for Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Agency (SAMHSA). He's working on a project to do a literature review of the research and best / promising practices related to males and trauma recovery. Dr. Romo will join us to discuss two basic issues: 1) how to understand males and trauma (the background of the problem); and 2) helping males heal from trauma (the responses and what has been done). As his web site says, "Dr. Jaime Romo is an educator, consultant, and author. He promotes healing from abuse and the prevention of child sexual abuse, particularly abuse by religious authorities or in the context of religious settings." He offers numerous services, including seminars and consulting, and offers workbooks and a newsletter.
