Tonight's special guest is Susan Suafoa-Dinino from Tennessee, founder of the Speaking Out Against CSA non profit organization. Susan's a returning family member, who'll be catching us up on what she's been up to since we last heard from her in 2012 (please see SCAN episode #253). Of special note will be her upcoming "A Safe Place" Workshop on child sexual abuse (CSA) awareness and prevention. The event will be held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on Friday, April 26, and is one of the things Susan's doing in recognition of April being the 30th Annual Child Abuse Awareness month. The workshop is open to the public and is designed to appeal to any adult who's concerned about the safety of children. Parents, grandparents, church leaders, ministers, daycare providers, caregivers, teachers, and healthcare professionals will benefit, as will anyone who works with or around children. In 2000, Susan was faced with a very real issue in which she was unfamiliar .. the horrifying truth and reality of child sexual abuse (CSA). "Since that time," she writes, "I have been trying to figure out a way to help children who are Sexually Abused. The task seemed impossible once I read the statistics and learned about the failures of the systems in place that are supposed to protect children. The truth is that we live in a fallen world in which many children are robbed of their innocence by Sexual Predators."
