Tonight we had an unexpected special guest, returning family member Marko Hamlin from Washington DC. First abused as a four year old child, his single mother struggled with alcoholism. As a teenager, Marko suffered from substance abuse himself, joined the Army and eventually became a professional basketball player. The world was at his fingertips, yet he remained troubled and in pain. This rocky road continued for a while until he asked to God for help. Marco credits his relationship with God as being the most important ingredient in his life. His lovely wife and beautiful daughter are certainly testament to that. Eventually he was led to attend Lancaster Bible College, where just 24 hours ago, he was awarded a degree in Business in the Class of 2013. Marko was given the opportunity to address those gathered in a Commencement Speech where he spoke publicly for the first time about his child abuse, his traumas in early adulthood and the path of healing he's now on .. his recovery (please see the VIDEO). "This was the first time I shared my testimony in person!" Marko says, "I stepped out on faith and God confirmed that I am doing what he called me to do! A few people came to me afterwards and let me know that they were abused also! I will continue to raise awareness so that this abuse doesn't happen to our children! I will continue to help men and women heal from their past, we can overcome! God is awesome and he wants us free and not in bondage!"
