Tonight's special guest is Rick Goodwin, MSW RSW, from Ottawa, co-founder and Executive Director of "The Men’s Project" and National Manager and Senior Trainer for 1in6 Canada. The Men's Project is a non-profit charitable men's counseling agency that has been providing services to men and their families since 1997. They provide individual and couple counseling, as well as a specialized healing program for men who have experienced sexual or physical abuse as children, anger management, emotional intelligence and fathering. Services are specifically designed for men and professionally facilitated by accredited psychotherapists. Individual programs are tailored to specifically meet men's needs in a way that speaks to men. All their programs are open to straight, gay and bisexual men. 1in6 Canada, named for the number of men who have been sexually abused in Canada, calls itself "Canada's knowledge centre on male sexual trauma and recovery." The 1in6 Canada web site says, "If you are a man who was sexually abused as a child or sexually assaulted as an adult, you are not alone, you are not to blame and the feelings and thoughts you are having are normal. More importantly, healing and a better life are possible—you, your family and your friends need to know that. And finding that help may be just a click away." Learn more about how you can help here.
