Tonight's special guest is Lina Geha from London, a self-employed bilingual councilor who treats individual clients and therapy groups in both Arabic and English. Lina offers help with, among other things, addiction all types, psychological and sexual abuse and torture, Domestic Violence, depression, PTSD and anger issues. She grew up in mostly war-torn Lebanon, where she witnessed a lot of violence and anger, and eventually moved to the west where, as a mother of two, she's had to rely on her resourcefulness and coping skills. She describes herself as an integrative counselor with strong Existential and Humanistic leanings, and has a huge interest in Developmental psychology as it relates to neuroscience. She believes some of the explanations offered regarding how the human brain forms enduring habits and patterns which can lend insight into understanding what can happen during early abuse to a developing sense of self .. all of which can help the work with victims and or survivors and to understand better the damage, the cost and most importantly helpful ways to reclaim and develop the self and its capacity for love and joy. Lina says, "I have an interest in the implications of developmental abuse to dissociation in the self," and goes on to explain the work she does, ".. is mostly client led, developed through mutual trust, empathy, respect, appreciation of what a victim or a survivor have been through and the all important unconditional love.
