Tonight's special guest is Renee Fredrickson, PhD, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, a psychologist in private practice for over three decades who's experienced in training and consultation. Her specialties include dealing with child sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, trauma, psychotherapy, consultation, mental health issues, the role of emotions in our lives, abuse and trauma. She's also the author of "Repressed Memories: A Journey In Healing from Child Sexual Abuse," a self help book for survivors of abuse with amnesia about significant aspects of the trauma. Renee has some 44 years of experience working with child abuse and in psychotherapy with adults, couples, families, adolescents, children and infants. Works with abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, traumatic amnesia, marital issues, chemical dependency and spiritual issues. Her goals include continuing to work toward preventing trauma and family violence and educating professionals and the public on mental health issues. "I've lectured across the U.S. and Canada. I especially like talking about infant and early childhood sexual abuse, stalking of sexual abuse victims and emotional processing in recovery. Also resilience is a topic I am exploring," Renee says, adding that she enjoys teaching folks about repressed memories, too. She goes on, "Besides doing all that training, my audio and video sets have been purchased by over 250,000 survivors and professionals. So now I've started doing storytelling in the past year. I did my first story for the Minnesota Moth StorySlam sponsored by National Public Radio and won. So now I'm in the finals and my story is for sale on theMoth.org website."
