SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. The institution commonly known as "Child Protective Services" has operated in an almost untouchable position in North America for decades, as if it was "above the law". Tonight we'll speak with Anne, a mother who fought to protect herself and her children. "There are laws to protect them and everybody failed them," she says. The judge's decision has now been undone by a Court of Appeal, which found that the lower-court judge "failed to hear both sides of the story, improperly gave custody to Anne's ex and did not make a decision that was in the best interests of the children." But for Anne and her children "the damage may be irreversible." We will also be speaking with another mother, Laura, who previously appeared on our show. She'll will update us on her "nightmare" through family court. We'll also have guest panelists Rhonda Nordlander from Canada and Dr. Jim Singer from the U.S. as we also discuss "activism for mental health."
