Tonight's special guest is Val (Littlegirl413) from Maryland, one of NAASCA's most dedicated volunteer family members, a childhood trauma survivor who uses creative writing as a tool in her recovery. Her book of poetry, "The Monster's Game", takes one on an emotional and heartbreaking, yet powerful journey that explores the author's early childhood when she was sexually abused from age 4 to about 16. Almost 50 years later, the mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter and friend still struggles with the effects of that abuse. Through the use of poetry, she breaks her silence and speaks out about her abuse and the abuse of children everywhere. Littlegirl413 emerges as strong and triumphant as she delivers punch by punch blows to her abusers and those who turn a blind eye. Val's goal is not to gain sympathy for her pain, but to generate support for those who are less fortunate than she. It is her dream to shed a spotlight on this terrible silent epidemic throughout the world and end child sexual abuse forever. As she says, "Maybe one day no child will have to remain anonymous and hide behind a mask of shame." Littlegirl413 strongly recommends participation in online recovery groups like: www.DailyStrength.org
