Tonight's special guest is Svava Brooks from Aurora, Oregon, a returning NAASCA family member who's a child abuse survivor, activist, coach, blogger and author. Her new book, "Releasing Your Authentic Self: A Daily Guide to Help Child Abuse and Trauma Survivors Rediscover Themselves," is written for survivors of abuse or trauma who are ready to thrive. The trauma from child abuse teaches you to hide the 'real you' (your authentic self). The exercises in Svava's new book were designed to help you release that incredible part of yourself, and give you everything you need to begin the amazing journey of re-discovery! Originally from Iceland, Svava is the co-founder of a nationwide child sexual abuse prevention and education organization called “Blátt áfram.” She's also a certified instructor and facilitator for Darkness to Light Stewards of Children, as well as a certified Crisis Intervention Specialist, a certified Parent Educator, a BellaNet Teen support group facilitator, and an Abuse Survivor Coach. Nearly all her work is done over the Internet right now. "I serve coaching clients all over the world," she says. Svava has dedicated her life to ending the cycle of child sexual abuse through education, awareness, and by helping survivors heal and thrive. She's a certified facilitator for  Advance!, a program created by Connections to restore authentic identity. Every week she writes about healing after trauma on her blog, and leads an online discussion forum on Child Sexual Abuse Healing and Recovery.
