Tonight's special guest is Alicia Mo'Batti from Sacramento, California, a child abuse survivor who suffered at the hands of her own father. There was intense family dysfunction and mental, emotional, verbal, physical and sexual abuse in the family dynamics. "I didn't think I would survive," Alicia says. She suffered suicidal ideations and attempts until she came to realize her life was never her own. "I survived to be a bridge for others to cross from death to life. That is why I do the work." Alicia is a Rape Crisis Peer Advocate, Domestic Violence Case Manager, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Poet, Motivational Speaker, Life Struggles Counselor, Owner of Purple Eye Publishing, and a Self-Published Author. She is writing a 4-part series titled ‘Earth Angel,’ from the nickname the character gives herself by believing she was put on this Earth only to help people through their life struggles. She felt that she went through her abuse so that she could understand and help others; to rise above the insidious cancer that infests, breaks, and kills the spirit of any human being that has to endure relentless toxic dysfunction. In this story, she is an adult with the task of flying her father, her abuser, home to California so he can be laid to rest after being given a diagnosis of lung cancer with three months left to live. This painstaking assignment changes Alicia from a confused child of domestic violence that is harboring pain from her past, to an Earth Angel of unconditional Love.
