Tonight's special guest is Laurie Ann Smith from Alberta, Calgary, Canada, a long time NAASCA family member who serves as NAASCA's Alberta Ambassador. October is 'Domestic Violence' awareness month. Tonight we'll address 'second hand' domestic violence .. how hard it is on children raised in homes with domestic abuse and family violence. Laurie will review the adult problems she's had because of this trauma, and what she's done about it. Her challenges are the result of the years of abuse, neglect, and toxic family behaviors she experienced as a child, a perfect topic for October. We'll ask Laurie to discuss her healing journey, especially as to what she's done to gain some adult survivor coping skills. "I am the youngest of seven children. I was born into a home of abuse and dysfunction, a home full of domestic violence and sexual violence between my parents. Both of my parents were brought up on child abuse charges when I was very young, but we were all allowed to remain in the home and the abuse just continued on unchecked." Laurie and her siblings were abused in every way. "I was sexually assaulted by my 21-year-old brother." Laurie goes on, "My passion is raising awareness about the issues of child abuse, domestic violence and all human rights abuses." We love Laurie's energetic activism. "I have created and hosted over 1,000 Blog Talk Radio shows, "Child Abuse Prevention and Human Rights Abuse Prevention is Up to US!" with three show categories: 1) One Child Abuse Survivor 2 another, 2) Worldwide Epidemic of Child Abuse and Human Rights Abuses and 3) Biblical Study shows.
