Tonight's special guest is Amanda Goudeau from Houston, Texas, whose parents began to abuse her when she was three years old. "About the age of 7," she says, "I was molested by the husband of a babysitter. I was isolated and in a constant state of fear. The physical abuse lasted for 21 years. However, 22-25 years old was emotionally, verbally, and psychologically abused via phone calls and text messages." Now Amanda tries to help others on YouTube. "The major feelings that I experienced during abuse was fear, loneliness, and felt detested by my parents," she explains. "When my fiancé (now husband) gave me a plane ticket to move out of state to avoid harassment, I was able to leave the house with my parents. They still had phone and text access to me, however, because I believed they could improve. I relocated back to the same state as them four years after we married because I felt they had improved. However, after a few days, the verbal, psychological, and fear of violence returned, and I decided I could not bear it any longer and went no contact. I'm working on overcoming my fear of failure as well as the trauma-related (PTSD symptoms)." Amanda concludes, "Now that I'm no longer in that dysfunctional relationship with my parents, I'm at peace and serenity. However, I still have ambitions to make my work align with my passion, which is to help people heal and build healthier relationships with God, themselves, and others. I have a podcast called "Abuse Exposed" that offers listeners insight into the various types of abuse through audio examples."
