Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, nurse, fitness trainer, educator, speaker and author.
Yesterday's experience on trip from LB to BBL
GPS had a mind of it's own. I knew my way, so ignored it.
Front route up the mountain is closed M - F 8 AM - 4 PM, hence, took route 38 the back way.
38: beautiful view, nice road, one lane most of the time, a few turnouts for slower drivers and 2 - 3 short passing lanes over the 50+ miles.
Yesterday was a beautiful, clear, sunny day and my GPS said I should be in BBL by 1:05 pm. All went well until... one driver chose to drive 30 - 50% less than the recommended or allowed speed, never pulled out to let us pass until the last or before last turnout where the car in front of me and I could pass. The speed picked up a bit, yet the car in front of me did not want me to pass...
I made a conscious decision, listened to Reba McEntire's Gospel Album to calm me down, sang along, started enjoying the scenery while driving safely, and finally found myself very peaceful arriving at my destination only 20 minutes late. Better late than never, correct?
What did I benefit from my decision?
mental health - great
physical health - excellent, did not get injured
financial health - awesome, no accident, no damage to car
Total gain in all three areas.
Was it worth it? Absolutely.
What I repeat my choice again? Absolutely!
