Tonight's special guest is Timothy Markison from Mesa, Arizona, a survivor of child abuse by his father and an administrator of his school. Its been 30 years since that abuse ended and, like most survivors, he still has a hard time talking about it. We are honored to have him with us tonight sharing his story with NAASCA for the first time. "The worst part for me is the physical pain of it ended pretty quickly,” Tim says, “The emotional scarring, it got so ingrained into me that I was worthless, I was stupid, I was less than human, I was basically a sex toy, a punching bag for the people that were supposed to be taking care of me." A major thing that Tim attributes to saving his life was his passion for playing baseball as an escape. Although he suffered through much, Tim's story is one of overcoming the abuse and using his great success in life and his company as a platform to speak out about child abuse and to help other survivors in his community live a healthier life. Some of these problems include very few perpetrators being convicted, and lack of evidence/recollection from the child victims who sometimes are drugged while the abuse is occurring. Today, he has been married over 30 years, has children, and his extensive career path includes being a patent attorney, inventor, activist, and the founder and CEO of Athalonz sporting shoes. Tim donates 5 percent of all profits from Athalonz to Safe at Home, an organization committed to ending the cycle of domestic violence and saving lives. Please join us in giving Tim a warm welcome to the NAASCA family, and hearing the inspirational path to recovery from child abuse he is taking!
