Tonight's special guest is David Brown from Duluth, Minnesota, a former paramedic and police officer, an abuse survivor and the author of six books: davidjbrownbooks.com. David explains his life story: "I experienced child abuse with daily beatings and starvation from both my parents in my early years at about 4 years of age. This continued until my dad sobered up when I was 10. The trust was broken and I could not feel safe with him or my mother as they both beat and starved me. I grew up to become reckless and fearless, at least that was my act. My 1st career position was that as a rescue paramedic in 1970. In 1978 I moved out to the Western States and became the uniform police officer. My lifetime motto became, "I can only reach just one soul." In 1991, at 43, I came out of an alcohol induced blackout with my duty weapon in my mouth. I put down my weapon and took an oath to change my life forever, and I haven't had a drink since then it's been more than 30 years. In 2009 my mother passed away, I was living in Colorado and she in Minnesota. I came back home for her funeral service. On my return trip back to Colorado I stopped for gas in Sheridan Wyoming. I saw a mountain cliff directly in front of me and something moved me and told me I had to go there, there was something special there that I had to experience. I can't tell you what transpired, all I know is it as I walked away back to my car a voice spoke to me and it said, "Write the book." From that day to this day I have authored 6 books all in the realm of Self Help and better living from depression, alcoholism and suicidal ideations."
