Tonight's special guest is Holli Kenley from Rancho Mirage, California, a child abuse  survivor, a therapist, an author and an activist. She recently was featured on a TED Talk on 'BETRYAL: The Loss of Self '. Holli holds a Master's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Child. She currently works in the field of psychology as an author, speaker, and workshop presenter. Through her gentle but powerful informative and restorative approach, Holli engages clinical and lay audiences, empowering them with strategies to embrace well and whole ways of being. "Within my private practice or wherever I am able to reach folks," she says, "it is my passion and purpose to support individuals on their journeys in living more well and whole lives." Holli is the author of numerous books. Her 11th book was published in January: 'SHIFTING Bravely: A Path to Growth, Healing and Transformation'. Her recent TED Talk is, 'BETRAYAL: The Loss No One Is Talking About' (October). Since she's told her abuse story on our show in the past she's wondering if we can focus tonight on BETRAYAL, and how that shows up for sexual abuse survivors. "Of course, I will connect to my personal experiences. As I speak to in my talk, it is the 'loss of self' that is greatly impacted by abuse of all kinds, and especially with sexual abuse. It is something we don't often talk about." Holli goes on, "It is deeply buried in shame. Also, I believe the recovery path looks much different than with 'loss of someone or something'. Also, in the conversation around BETRAYAL, the topic of 'forgiveness' often is misunderstood, especially when it comes to healing."
