Q & A call-in discussion with a survivor-professional, using an OPEN MIKE forum. We'll feature a survivor-professional co-host who'll field topics brought to the episode by you, the listener. ~~ Tonight's special co-host is Penelope Benis from Sarasota, Florida. She's a survivor as well as an Author/Activist/Ace Certified Health Coach accredited in Sports Nutrition/Certified Yoga Instructor (RYS200), specializing in Trauma Informed Trained Yoga and Mindfulness through YBB in Seattle, WA, as well as a NAASCA Blog Talk Radio Host and NAASCA Board Member. A survivor-professional, Penelope teaches Mindfulness in the college classroom setting (Bellevue College, Adjunct Instructor). With regard to experiencing abuse, mindfulness, meditation and breath work play a role in addressing, or helping to regulate, a body and mind affected by traumatic events. Penelope's credentials include expertise in the autonomic nervous system, and how the impact of trauma, often repeated and lasting in duration, can propel the victim into a chronic state of hyper-response to stress (sometimes referred to as fight, flight or freeze). Tonight's episode is a peak into the healing modality sometimes referred to as pranayama-or the breath. All are welcome to join in the discussion. ~~ On these episodes we welcome various co-hosts, survivor-professionals who'll assist in fielding questions and lead a variety of topics suggested by our call-in participants. Their trauma-informed perspectives as survivor-professionals will help them guide discussions on the issues of child abuse, trauma and healthy human sexuality that spring from questions and topics brought to us by our listeners. ~~ Everyone's invited to engage on tonight's show. ~~ Please visit the NAASCA.org web site.
