Filmmakers from new indie film 'STALLED'
GUESTS: Filmmakers of new indie film STALLED. The film was a big hit at the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival
In “Stalled,” a man is sitting on the toilet in a public restroom when he’s interrupted by a child crawling into his stall. He begins to panic when the kid won’t leave, no matter how empathetically he asks. What follows is a descent into madness as he tries to devise a plan to escape, without being branded a sexual predator.
Director Eric Rich is an American filmmaker who has been making short films for nearly a decade. His work blends his fascination with the awkward and uncomfortable, with his deep love of post-modern film. In filming this movie, the director was going for a sense of total panic, helplessness, and a complete inability to objectively assess the actual situation.
Writer Brett Osinoff has been a comedy writer for over a decade. Now working in television, he strives to make every script he works on as unique as possible with his absurdist dark sensibility. For him, the exciting thing about short films is you can pick one concept or emotion and hold a magnifying glass up to it, really blowing it up and exploring the subject in a way that may not be suitable for a feature. This was a deep dive into paranoia and irrational fear. It is an immersive and relatable experience for the audience.
“Stalled” stars Langston Fishburne (son of Laurence Fishburne), who was a professional ballet dancer before launching his acting career. He has starred on TV in “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Leverage: Redemption,” and BET’s “Madiba.” On the big screen he starred in ROMEO AND JULIET IN HARLEM, MARVEL’s ANT-MAN and THE WASP.
